Healthy Start provides maternal and child health services to improve pregnancy outcomes and to help children get a healthy start in life. Healthy Start offers services to pregnant women, women between pregancies, and for babies from birth to age three.

Mom Care | >Next
Mom Care is a special health insurance program for pregnant women of low income using a simplified application process, including a one page application. You can apply for this program even if you or other family members are working. There is no cost for this coverage. Once enrolled, you may be eligible for medical care and hospitalization during your pregnancy. It may also cover healthcare bills you received up to three months before your enrollment. Your baby may be eligible for free insurance after he or she is born. The application process is simple. Just fill out a one page application and you will receive notification of eligibility within 10 business days.
Mom Care is a Medicaid funded program authorized by a special waiver from the federal government called the Sixth Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (SOBRA). Mom Care was developed as a partnership between the Florida Association of Healthy Start Coalitions, the Florida Department of Health, the Florida Agency for Healthcare Administration, and the Florida Department of Children and Families. Mom Care is managed locally by county Healthy Start Coalitions.
