Tuberculosis (TB)
Clients will be seen on a walk-in basis everyday.

TB skin testing is not routinely recommended. In Florida, skin testing is only recommended for groups at high risk for exposure to TB and groups at high of progression from infection to disease. Therefore, the Orange County Health Department (OCHD) only tests contacts to active cases of TB Disease.
Those at high risk include:
- People who are HIV positive
- Close contacts of those known to have TB Disease
- People with chronic medical conditions
- People from countries with a high rate of TB
- Some racial or ethnic minorities
- Residents of long term care facilities
- Health Care Workers
- Prison Guards
- People who are malnourished
- Alcoholics
- IV drug users

The reporting of active TB cases is required by law under Florida Statutes Chapter 381. The OCHD is responsible for every TB patient in their county, including those patients who are treated privately. Therefore, the Health Department MUST be notified by health care providers of all cases of TB For more information on reporting see our main website at www.orchd.com.
